"Social Studies" consists of the following two plays:

"The Best Mistake" by Jim Knable
Becky and her embarrassingly over-the-top father, Roy, have never gotten along, so when she brings her first high-school boyfriend home to meet him, the last thing she expects it to be is the best mistake she has ever made. Roy and her new boyfriend, Will, hit it off, and Becky isn't sure what to do. When she and Will are cast in the school play, Becky discovers her father's secret illiteracy. Through this discovery, Becky gains insight into her father and their family dynamics.

"Home Safe" by Ellen Cooper
Many "issue" plays have been written about the perils of alcohol for teens, but much less material is available about another dark and often hidden issue - an alcoholic parent. "Home Safe" provides a powerful and compelling look at two sisters who try to create a safe haven in the midst of their dysfunctional family. The play opens up questions and offers insight and laughter amid tears.
